Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in the Disability Services industry. As a Direct Support Professional, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals who require support and assistance in their daily lives.
In this role, you will provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them to achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment. You will work closely with individuals, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure that individual needs are met and goals are achieved.
Responsibilities
- Assisting individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and transportation
- Providing emotional support and encouragement to individuals, fostering a positive and empowering environment
- Assisting individuals in developing and maintaining life skills, such as communication, socialization, and problem-solving
- Implementing and documenting individualized support plans, ensuring that goals and objectives are being met
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, case managers, and medical professionals, to provide comprehensive care
- Advocating for individuals’ rights and ensuring that they receive the necessary resources and support to live fulfilling lives
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and other required records
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of person-centered approaches and understanding of the unique needs of individuals with disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build relationships with individuals, families, and team members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards
- Valid driver’s license
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
- Additional hours for special events
Pay
- $18+ per hour (depending upon experience)
- Sign on bonus after successfully completing 90 days
