Care & Community is an organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. We are a dynamic, innovative, and person-centered program supporting children, adolescents, and adults with IDD to be their best.

What's New?

NEW HOURS: Beginning June 1 Care and Community will be returning to pre-Covid hours. Participants should be at program between 8:15-9:00.  Program will end at 3pm.  Participants should plan to be picked up between 2:45-3:15pm.  
This will allow everyone to participate in activities more fully and explore other activities a little further away without having to hurry back. 
 
Activity Highlights
 
Think, Change movie preview: date TBD Care and Community was asked to participate with ARC of Aurora and the Aurora Police Dept to create training videos/content for persons with I/DD.  These videos will be used as training tools for police trainees and persons with I/DD to learn how to interact with each other.  When they are released, we will have a preview so our Stars can see their work.  Stay tuned!
 
Fishing: if you have a fishing license or are planning to get one and would like to go fishing, contact Joey.  
 
May 31, Beach Day/Picnic at Aurora Reservoir ($4 park admission).  Wear your suit, bring a towel.  Care and Community will provide hot dogs, chips, watermelon for lunch

Reminders
 
IF YOU/PARTICIPANT WILL NOT BE AT PROGRAM (APPTS, CAMP, VACATION), PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP.  It makes it very hard to staff and plan activities when we do not know how many people are attending in advance.  Care and Community is only paid for services when participants are at program.  Advance notice allows us the opportunity to offer that spot to someone else and keep our staff paid. 
 
Please bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses etc DAILY.  We will be mostly outdoors
