About Us

Care and Community was founded in July 2009 and developed by CEO, Becky
Bowar, when her program needed to expand to accommodate the needs of her participants. Becky has worked with Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled children and adults since 1995.

Over the years, Becky has been working with families in home, school and community settings. In 2022, Care & Community expanded adding Residential Services to the services we provide.

We believe supporting individuals and families in their own homes is crucial for fostering independence, dignity, and a sense of belonging. Our commitment to personalized care and community integration remains unwavering, as we continue to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of those we serve.

By offering comprehensive residential services alongside our existing programs, we strive to create environments where every individual can thrive and lead fulfilling lives within the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.

Hello, My name is Joey. I am the Lead DSP here at care and community. Here are some things you may not know about me. My favorite sport is soccer and I have been playing for 19 years! I love to watch sports of all kinds and support our Colorado NBA and NHL teams. My favorite team however is the Greenbay Packers, Go pack go! I am also a huge Marvel geek and I have seen every marvel movie at least twice!! Some activities I enjoy in my free time are hiking, playing with my dog snoop, and of course watching marvel movies or reading comic books. Last but not least, I love my job!!! I feel I am exceptionally lucky to be able to come into work everyday and create new relationships, help others, have fun, and along the way learn more about myself as well.

Hello! My name is Alyssa and I have been a direct support professional at Care & Community since July of 2017. A goal of mine is to one day be fluent in American Sign Language(ASL). Growing up with dyslexia, ASL has been the only language I have really been able to understand, and as I’m learning, I have come to find it’s a really beautiful language. One of my favorite things about the job is that we are so active, we’re always doing something exciting! I also love building relationships with individuals and learning new things with them and about them. There is always something new to learn and our participants remind me of that every day. Care and Community is so much more than a job to me. In my free time I like to play softball, color and watch Greys Anatomy. I also have two dogs Tyson and Snoop as well as a cat Nugget. They also take up quite a lot of my free time. Thanks for taking the time to get to know about me, I look forward to getting to know you!

Since joining Care & Community in 2018, I have found immense fulfillment and satisfaction in my career choice. The opportunity to work closely with our clients and witness their remarkable progress in life skills and personal growth has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Prior to my tenure at Care Community, I actively engaged in various roles within my children's extracurricular activities. I served as a teacher's aide, Girl Scout leader, PTO member, and guard mom. Currently, I hold the position of President on the Board of Directors for my children's winter guard organization. I firmly believe that a life dedicated to service and giving back to the community is the most fulfilling path one can take. I am happily married to my husband of 26 years, and together we have raised four wonderful children. It has been an immense joy to witness their growth and development into responsible and accomplished adults.

Hi! My name is Stef, I am one of the Direct Support Professionals at Care & Community. I have worked in the Special Education field since 2019 and am currently working on becoming a Physical Therapy Assistant. I am a proud Latina with a Korean partner so culture to me is one of my greatest values. Another one of my values is equality, with my time at Care & Community I'm happy to say that we have a great team who fight for equality for our participants and community members. This program has brought so much joy to my life and I am beyond grateful to be able to spend my time with my friends and create numerous memories.

Melanie

Hi, my name is Melanie Gardner. I grew up on a farm in Wyoming. I have one brother who works in the energy field helping to build the wind towers. I have been a nanny/caregiver for over 35 years. I have worked with an individual with disabilities for the past 27 years. I have also worked with Care & Community since 2014. Some of my favorite things to do are crafts, painting, knitting and crochet, reading, sewing and quilting, cooking and traveling. I also very much like to learn new things.
